First off, I purchased a townhome in the Foxborrow North community and learned that Natalie will be my new neighbor at the end of the month! I'm so excited for that. I love my new place, it is so nice to be out of an apartment and have a place I can call my own.

Work has been really busy so I feel as though my summer has flown by, however, I can't complain because I feel very thankful that I have a job. Some of the work projects include visiting High Schools Drivers Education Classes throughout the state talking about motorcycle safety. Have you seen the billboards for the campaign, Drive Aware. Ride Aware.? That's one of my clients and it has been a lot of fun. Another project was working for Cirque when they were in town at the beginning of the month. I had the opportunity to coordinate all media for the opening day. I had full access behind the scenes and let me tell you, it was amazing!

I am also volunteering at the Hogle Zoo. It was a long application process and many hours in training but well worth it. Make sure you go and see the baby giraffe and elephant. They are so cute.

Hope everyone is doing well and had a wonderful summer.

Megan

Rachel (Clinger) Burton says:

Hi everyone! We finished at BYU last December, welcomed Halle in February and moved to Syracuse in May. Mark works in Ogden and I quit my job as a speech pathologist to stay at home with the babe. Halle is now six months old and trying to tackle the 'army crawl'. She is definitely the best thing that has ever happened to us. Now that we're free from school, we were able to spend some time in Idaho Falls, Jackson Hole and Bear Lake. It's been such a fantastic summer that I hate to see it end!

--Rachel Clinger Burton

Alisa (DeYoung) Crowell writes:

Well, Corey and back in our hometown of good old Ogden. Corey is working for IAC in downtown Ogden and loves it. We've had a very busy summer with lots of family activities and friend get-togethers. We do miss Boston for sure--in fact, we cried when we drove out of the comfortable city on the 95 North up to NH. Eventhough we miss lots of great things about the East, it's been so nice to be at home. Family is awesome. We've loved seeing the mountains everyday and to smell the mountain air--I know that sounds SO cheesy, but I'm totally serious!
We just sent my brother off to the MTC--he'll be headed to the California Fresno Mission--Hmong Speaking come November. He's the first in my family to serve, so it's quite the deal.
Elsie is almost 10 months already! She is super determined. The last couple of bath nights, she's crawled and splashed like crazy. It's become a little more of a game to bathe her than it used to be.
Other than that, we are loving life and living up each day as it comes!
Happy Summer!
Alisa (DeYoung) Crowell

GO LAKERS!

Spring 2009

Krista (Harrison) Combe says:
Hi everyone. Life in Georgia is going great. Lincoln is almost three months old. I can't believe his is growing so quickly. I am starting to move him out of his newborn clothes. I didn't even get to put him in all the outfits we have for him. Parker is a great big brother. The two boys are 18 months apart and I think, for now, it's a great age separation. Willie's mom and youngest sister came to visit during the fist part of April. We had a blast with them. Willie is finishing up the semester at Tech and preparing to go to Germany. In the next few days we'll find out if we pack our bags for three months at the end of the summer to head for Boston! Our summer plans include a trip back to Utah for three weeks. We are excited to run in the Riverdale 5k race. If we are ever there during the 4th of July we have to be in that race, it's kind of tradition. I have been learning to sew a little. Even though I don't have a sewing machine, my friends are letting me use theirs. The spring is wonderful out here. I love the rain storms we've been getting and the fresh new leaves and flowers popping up. General Conference was awesome and I loved Elder Hollands talk. Our health is good and we are happy. If anyone has any recommendations, let me know. I'm just staying busy with Gracie and baby-sitting/substitute teaching a couple days a week. Last year, my husband had multiple job problems. After the sixth job change, we decided that we must not be doing what we were supposed to be doing. Phil has always had a dream to get a degree in sound recording technology and open up a recording studio of his own. So in December, we decided it was time to pursue that dream. The only program in Utah is at BYU. Phil played the tenor saxophone in high school and at Weber State. He pulled it out and got his chop s back enough to audition and get accepted into BYU's School of Music (that's a pretty big deal, competition is pretty tough). We put our house up for rent, found an apartment in Provo and have been down here for a little over a month. It has been a difficult transition going from a nice big house to a small apartment, but it will be worth it in the long run. He will love going to school and having a job in the music industry. I'm so proud of him for trying to live his dream. He is working as a mortgage loan officer. The office he works out of is in Ogden so he has to drive up that way a couple of times a week, but mostly works remotely. If you are looking into buying a house, he does a really great job! Carson and I love having so many parks and stores within walking distance. The Provo River Parkway is just a couple of minutes away so we go on walks on sunny days. That's about it for us! Hope everything is wel l with all of you!

Misty (Hulet) Burnett

Clint Kelson says:
Hello Everyone! My wi fe and I were married August 7th, 2008, prior to that we dated for 3 and half years. I was actually lined up on a blind date with her shortly after I returned home from my mission to Oaxaca Mexico by Mrs. Mortenson (some of you may remember her from T.H. Bell). We are expecting our first baby on July 7th, a baby girl. We already have a named picked out...Ellie Anne Kelson. We are very excited and it's been very enjoyable being able to see many of you and your families through the blog. I hope everyone is d oing well and I look forward to hearing more about everyone else and their exciting lives =) Take care!
Clint & Shalise Kelson

Yandary Zavala writes:
Hey everyone! It's been a while... Well, not too much is going on with me. I just got back from my mission a few weeks ago, and now I'm just trying to get back into regular life. I absolutely LOVED my mission! It's the best thing that I've done in my whole life, and it has changed me forever. My testimony of God's love for us, of His hand in our lives, and the restoration of His gospel has grown so much! I served in the California Oakland mission (Spanish-speaking), with an assignment at the Oakland Temple Visitors' Center; the BEST!! Other than that, I'm looking for a good job (know of any?), I'm going back to the U this summer, my little sister is getting married on May 23, and that's about it! Corey is wrapping up is second year at the "B School" and we can't believe just how fast time disappears! We're getting all nostalgic about everything here in Boston. I will so miss the great restaurants, the runs along the Charles River, and most of all the great friends we've made. It's always hard to close a chapter and yet it's so exciting to begin another...if we only knew for sure how to begin or what to write for the beginning of the new. We'll soon find out. :) Glad to hear you all are doing great. Thanks for posting amidst Facebook, Twitter, and all the other sites that connect people. :)
Best,
Corey, Alisa, & Elsie Jayne

Below are some pics from the LDS Girls' Half-Marathon along the Charles River..you can see the skyline in the background....sigh. :)

Hey Everyone! Our newest addition joined our family on January 27th after 3 1/2 hours of labor. We named the Parker look-a-like, Lincoln Guy Harrison. Lincoln was a name that we both thought was unique, solid, and couldn't be made fun of too much. Guy was the name of my great grandpa. The other fun thing we found out after naming Lincoln was that his name is related to golf. 'Linc' is a type of course to play on, Parker's name can be 'par' or as his friends say 'par par'. We began our marriage with golf and it seems to be staying with us. What ever will I do? Life is great and I am so grateful to be bless with a house full of boys! I am loving being a mom all day long. My parents came out to visit during the week to help us with the baby. We had fun having them around. Willie is publishing a paper in a conference held in Germany. The lucky guy gets to travel to Germany for about a week in June. I won't be accompanying him because of all the other trips we hope to take during the year. The opportunity to live in France is still in our minds, now more than ever. Hope everyone is doing well. It feels like forever since I've seen anyone...Anyway, since I can't remember when the last time I wrote was I'll just try and hit the big things.

I got married last July to Darcy Westover. We've been married for let's see...that makes about six months now. Dang...time flies don't it? Our little girl Haley will be starting kindergarten in the fall. She's stoked about it. I took her to get her kindergarten shots a few months ago (not a fun experience) and she's been so proud of herself ever since, now that she's all ready to go to the "big kid's school".

Darcy is also pregnant...woot woot! She's about eight weeks along right now. We went to the gynie the other day and heard our little baby's heartbeat. (*pees in pants from excitement*) She's due around September 6th - 10th, the same week Haley starts kindergarten...so you know, no stress there. When we told Haley that Darcy was pregnant I was like, "Haley guess what's in mommy's tummy?" she just kind of looked at me like "what kind of a weird question is that?" she just said "I don't know..." and I was all, "Come on, what do you think is in there?" ..."I don't know..." "Come on, just guess..." (are you ready for this?) and she's like, " I don't know....gas?" :)

So it's good to know that if we have trouble getting Darcy to go into labor in about 7 months we can just go ask Haley to expound on the digestive system...that should do the trick. We both about died laughing.

We'll find out in a couple of weeks if it's a boy or a girl, but we've already decided on names. If it's a boy we're going to name him Finn and if it's a girl, it'll be Vienna. Darcy was dead set on the name "Scout" from Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird until she heard "Vienna"..........thank goodness. I'm stoked either way. Haley says we need a boy because it's unfair to me right now to be out-numbered 2:1.

I got laid off from the travel agency I was working at last September only about a week after school started...which actually turned out to be a gigantic blessing. I got a new job about a month later at All Metals Fabrication. I read architectural plans all day long and make shop drawings for railing systems, exterior paneling, sun shades, and any other metal element found in architecture. I really love it here at AMF. I don't have to interact with people all day and I just sit and do my business like a madman...it's great.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing great. My entire family had a great time getting to know Elsie Jayne. She has grown so much even since then!! They grow right before your eyes! She just turned 3 months old this week! She’s a cuddler and knows it when you put her down. This is why the swing has become our favorite—I only hope it’s not too much of an orphanage—j/k. Corey is still thick in the job hunt—it’s really been a rough market. It’s possible we’ll end up in NJ or Oslo, Norway. We’re open, though to whatever. I’m just trying to take in as much as a can of Boston. Love this city.

The Dustin Family

Hello everyone! I thought I would contribute to this news letter and give you an update to my little family. I've been married to my husband, Matt since July of 2004, we met at college. Then in 2006 we had our beautiful baby girl Madison, who is now 2 years old! We are currently living in Las Vegas. We came down here because my husband got accepted to UNLV. He recently graduated with his Masters in Social Work. He keeps very busy working full time, bieng a geat dad, and husband and he still makes time to fulfill his church calling as 2nd councelor in the bishopric. My daughter and I have lots of fun hanging out together! During the summer all we can do to keep cool is to go swimming (which we do almost everyday!!) :) And in the winter we get to enjoy the nice weather and play outside a lot! She keeps me busy and really wears me out! I am a full-time mom and am the 2nd counselor in the primary. We are just enjoying life down here in Vegas! Here are some pictures of us...
Madison being silly doing her "Cheesy face"

                                                           Madie, Just being cute!!

Me and Matt hanging out on my birthday!
Hope you all are doing well! It seems like forever! I just wanted to say hi to everyone. It is great to hear that you are all doing well. My life is pretty boring... married and going to work. The one interesting thing about me, that I would have never dreamed of when I was in high school, is having two pet goats. Congratulations to all who are having babies, getting married, moving to exciting places, finishing school, etc. Things here in San Francisco are great--it's 80 degrees and sunny today. I'm almost finished with my first semester of graduate school at San Francisco State University where I'm working on a masters degree in public health. I'm also teaching dance classes to kids age 2-6 a few days a week, and I did some work with the League of Young Voters for the election. I'm so glad it's over! My boyfriend Marc and I are hosting our first grown-up Thanksgiving dinner here in a couple weeks, and he's planning on making a Turducken. That's where you stuff a chicken inside of a duck, and then put that inside of a turkey with layers of stuffing in between... it's pretty amazing. OK I think that's all of the random tidbits I can come up with! I hope you're all doing well.
Take care,

Ali Uscilka

Misty (Hulet) Burnett says:

Hi all!Wow! We all know the old adage, "The only constant is change." Well in my family that really seems to be the only constant these days. First and most important, my first child was born on July 27. His name is Carson Roger Burnett and was 7 lbs 14 oz at birth. Now he is about 20 lbs. It's amazing how fast he has grown and changed. When he was born, I quit my job. I was working as a Head Start teacher in Ogden. Now I stay home with Carson. Being a mom is the most amazing job I have ever had. I never imagined that I could love someone so completely and unconditionally. I truly love being a mom! My husband and I bought our first home in May. We are living in West Point now and I absolutely love it! We are in a wonderful neighborhood, perfect for raising children. Our house is very nice, although it needs a little work here and there. Now for changes that are a little more stressful. My husband got a job doing finance at Sierra RV last January. Due to the market and the management's unrealistic expectations, he was fired in June. He found a job with a start up company in July. They promised that they would be getting funding in within the month so they could pay their employees. However, the funding company they were going through turned out to be a scam and they lost the money they had paid the company and were left with no money to pay their employees. So after waiting three months, we decided that Phil needed to find another job. He is now working for a company called Banker Life and Casualty. He sales Medicare extention packages and insurance to old people. This should be a good job for him. That's about all for us. I am going to attach a couple of pictures of Carson. The first one is his first experience with fall leaves. You can see how much me loved them. The second is a picture I took of him on his 3 month birthday. Sorry it's a little dark.

Misty Hulet Burnett

Krista (Combe) Harrison writes:

Happy Fall Everyone!

Let's see, what has happened since August? I'm sure there have been plenty of events take place in my life. I think that one thing that has stood out to me over the last few months is my involvement in our new ward. Willie and I were called to be ward missionaries. For those who may not know what a ward missionary does or what it is I will give a very brief description. I fellowship everyone and visit with those who may be less-active in the ward, we also help the missionaries in their efforts. This is a calling that Willie and I have had perhaps three of the nearly four years we have been married. We have moved around I think seven times and we keep getting this calling. This is good because it helps me to get out of my little box of being shy. We have really enjoyed the people we have met in our ward and the new neighbors that we are getting. It's nice to have a cop live next to you, you don't have to worry as much about crime.
Some things that we have done over the last few months that are kind of fun are a surprise flight back to Utah for Labor day weekend, seeing the musical 'Wicked', going to a Braves game, visiting an apple orchard in Georgia, and a few other things. My parents used their skymiles to send us back home for Labor Day weekend. We traveled up to my grandparents cabin in Star Valley. We had a great time seeing the family and playing with all the little ones. Parker got a 24 hour flu bug the last day of the trip. I felt so bad seeing my little guy so sick. For you golfing fans out there, Willie and I went to the FedEx cup practice round for the Professional Golfing Association (PGA). I thought it was fun, but you should have seen how giddy Willie got when he saw Phil (Mickelson) practicing. We had a fun halloween trunk-or-treat at our church. We dressed Parker up as a dinosaur, an outfit made by a friend of ours (she's crafty). This friend has even convinced me to make my own stockings this year...aaahhh! We'll see how crafty I can be.
Updates on my family. Parker will be 16 months old on the 30th of this month. He is learning to speak, not very clearly but I understand what he says. He has developed a great love for a certain stick that he gets to walk around with outside. He even knows that he can't bring it in the house. He is learning to treat babies nice for when his little brother comes along. Oh yeah, we found out we are having a little boy. No names picked out yet but we'll decide by the time we leave the hospital. For those of you who knew my plan in high school, I'm on the path to five boys and on girl at the end. Actually in my family we call it the Combe curse, whatever gender you started with is the one you will get stuck with. Willie is enjoying school at Georgia Tech (yellow jackets) still. We are slackers in attending sports games. We keep booking up our weekends and evenings that we haven't made the time for the school pride.
We will be back in Utah over Thanksgiving. Christmas didn't work out because I was going to be too far along in my pregnancy. So our time in Utah will be short this trip. Maybe next summer we can make it back for a little bit longer. If any of you have tips on how to make it through the holidays without your family nearby I would love to hear them. This will be my first Christmas not seeing my parents or siblings. I hope that all of your holidays will be filled with fun and excitement. Alisa congrats on your baby. Nate W. good luck in Ohio. Danelle welcome home (well, back to Utah I mean). Um, I'm sure there are more fun events that have happened to all of you so congratulations or good luck with them. Sorry for the long entry.

See you all. -Krista-

Ryan & Andrea (Smith) Sherry say:

Congratulations Alisa and Corey and everyone else on new additions and engagements! We haven't written for awhile, so just wanted to write a quick note. Ryan and I also had a baby boy on October 24th. The baby's name is Kayden and he weighed 7 lbs 5 oz and 22 inches long. He has been a lot of fun and is very cute. He is now the star in both of our families. As for the rest of our lives, I will be off work for 12 weeks then I will go to part-time working at LDS hospital in a level 2 nursery, so I will be surrounded by babies. Ryan is going to school, majoring in history and eventually going into the Air Force, hopefully as a pilot. He is also working at Maceys as a front-end supervisor. Well good to hear from everyone!
Andrea and Ryan Sherry

Alisa (DeYoung) Crowell writes:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I love this time of year when you want to just be cozy inside--snuggle with a blanket (or a baby:) and read a book (or just sit and stare at your baby for hours). I have been going crazy with baking things (well, before Elsie came)! It seems like that always happens when the weatha' gets a little cooler.

Corey and I are so excited to announce the birth of our sweet Elsie Jayne. She has been a piece of heaven ever since her arrival! Corey's included a play-by-play on our blog, so your welcome to follow our link if you want to read in. There are also plenty of pics there as well, so I won't bombard you with pics here. :)

Corey is currently in the process of finding a job--things are pretty interesting at the moment with the job market. We know everything will work out, but it has been quite competative. He's currently looking at Delta--for those of you who know Corey, know he LOVES to plan flights and try to earn the most miles out of your trip. Delta is located in Atlanta, so who knows Krista--we could be neighbors! We'll keep our fingers crossed. :)

Other than that, I'm just learning how to divide up and organize my time better--those who've had little ones tell me it gets better. I'm loving it so far and want Elsie to stay little, but grow at the same time--it's a wierd thing. :)

Hope you all have a joyous Thanksgiving!

Cheers from Boston,

Alisa (DeYoung) Crowell

Summer Newsletter 2008

Krista (Combe) Harrison writes:

Hello everyone!

Willie and I have been a bit busy over the last couple of months. In May we came back to Utah for my little sisters wedding. She got married on the golf course between my parents house and my grandparents. We had a great time. During the next week we spent time up in Logan with Willie's family and meeting a soon to be brother-in-law. I like when I get to come home and see family. I just wish we had more time to visit with friends as well. By the way Jacob Esplin I hope my mom got the old football to you. After a fun-filled week in Utah we traveled to California with my family. We met up with Shamu and Mickey and Minnie. We sure did have a long vacation, but it was worth it. Parker did pretty good the whole time, it was the getting back to our time in Georgia that was the killer. After a few weeks we got him back to the three hours earlier he was use to. Parker at eleven months started walking. He is up to about 10 steps at a time. It's fun to watch him grow up. He is a great kid. Willie's sister is getting married in July and she found a little tux for Parker to get dressed up in. He will be such a stud. Willie's work during the summer has allowed him to spend more time at home. At the end of June we moved to a new apartment just across the street from our old place. Across the street put us in a new ward, stake and mission. We will miss a few of the people we met in our old ward, but we are still close enough that we may get to see them every once in a while. Our first night in our new apartment Willie tried to use the shower and instead of the water going in the tub it went into the wall. After about 45 minutes we were finally able to get the water shut off. Our neighbors below us were kind and they understood that it wasn't done on purpose. We had a great time with it. We took some fun pictures. Happy Birthday to those of you who celebrated in the last few months, and happy weddings too. Congratulations to those who are expecting or who delivered! I hope that everyone is in good health and happy.

see y'all later

Krista

Natalie (Tippets) Mudrow writes:

Hello everyone!! Sorry it has been so long. Things are going well here in Salt Lake. I just finished my 12 week internship at the U of U inpatient rehabilitation unit. I learned so much and met so many brave and amazing people, but I am glad to get a break. I only have classes this fall, one more 12 week internship, and then i'm done (yipeee!!) Shane is doing well, working and paying our bills (he has moved up to a 2nd pressman for the LDS church's printing center). Other than that, we are enjoying some much needed time together and are going on a small trip next week for some camping and four wheeling. I hope everyone else is doing well.

-Natalie Mudrow (Tippets)

Todd Hellstrom says:

Hey everyone!
I just graduated in May with a degree in math teaching. My minor is in PE/Coaching. I will be teaching at North Ogden Junior High. I'm the assistant coach for softball, head coach for boys' basketball and girls' basketball, and I coach high jump.I spent my summer working as the director of a camp for kids with disabilities. I've come out of it with bruises, bites, and scratches, but most importantly a better understanding. Life is great!

Natalie (Pugmire) Hincks write:

Mark and I are enjoying our summer as new parents. We are having so much fun with Gracie. She is 7 1/2 weeks now and so sweet! I wish I could attach some pictures, but right now I am on a computer in McCall, Idaho on Mark's family reunion. If you've never been here, you should come. It is so pretty and peaceful. We went river rafting today, to the lake yesterday, and are going hiking tomorrow. On our way here we had the opportunity to attend the Twin Falls Temple open house and a session at the Boise Temple, too. Both are absolutely beautiful. I'll try to attach some pictures of all this for the next blog. The rest of the summer has been lots of fun, and we are planning to go visit Mark's sister and family in Pittsburgh to finish off our summer. I'm not going to be teaching this coming year, so that I can stay home with Gracie, but Mark will be busy working and finishing his last semester at school. That's about it, but I'm really excited to hear from the rest of you!

Love,

Natalie Hincks

Candace (Beck) Miles says:

Hello everyone,

My summer has been great. We have had some awesome adventures! We went Canyoneering in Keyhole Canyon at Zion National Park. Once you start the canyon you can't go back. It's not that long but it takes awhile because of all the repels. DON'T DO IT WITHOUT A WET SUIT! The water is way way way to cold - we didn't know going into it. I have attached a couple pictures. We also did a little Mountain Boarding; you can see more pics on our blog at: http://miles-circlem.blogspot.com/. My husband is great; he planned a whole day of activities for my birthday. I had no idea; it was all a complete surprise. He even got me off work without me knowing. First we went on a hot air balloon ride in Eden, had a breakfast picnic, got a couples massage at a day spa, had family portraits taken, dinner at Rickenbakers, and then we took the ATV's up Benlomand peak to look at the stars. We had tons of fun. For those who know my sister, she and her husband are having a little baby boy this December. No kids for me yet. I'm still trading the stock market, forex, equities, etc. I really enjoy it even though it can about give you a heart attach some days. My sister and I still own and run our small nutritional supplement company TriElements too. And my husband still works for Weber County as a Sheriff Deputy. That's about it for me - it's good to hear from all of you once and awhile.

Candace (Beck) Miles

Ashley Leo writes:

Hi everyone!!! I hope that everyone is doing great! Congratulations to all that have had little babies. Congrats Mark and Natalie…little Gracie is so cute! Congrats Alisa and Corey…that is so exciting that you are having a little girl! Congrats to Misty on your little baby! Congratulations to Thom and Darcey on your wonderful marriage! Happy birthday to little Parker Harrison! I can’t believe that summer is almost over! These past couple of months have been filled with holidays, vacations, and work. My family bought a timeshare so we went to Vegas in July! It was super HOT as you could imagine…temps reached up to 115 degrees!!! I stayed at the Grandview Las Vegas Condos…it was really nice. There is so much to do while in Vegas. We went to a Variety Show at Planet Hollywood which was pretty good! I went to Red Rock Canyons and hiked one of the many trails. My sister and I went and saw Natasha Bedingfield and The Veronicas in concert at the House of Blues. It was a great concert! We also got a few laughs out of it…there is always that one drunk person that just makes a fool out of themselves:). The 4th of July was fun…filled with parades, bbq, and fireworks. I went to the Riverdale fireworks this year and thought they were pretty good compared to years past. I also went up to my cabin up in Bear Lake a couple of weeks ago which was really relaxing. The weather was great and so was the water… that is once you get in! Besides the holidays and vacations…everything is about the same with me. Work at the pharmacy is good. I have been a little busy with wedding guestbook’s these past couple of months. I finished my last guestbook just in time to start reading the book “Breaking Dawn”! I was so excited for this book to come out as most of you were who are obsessed with the books as I am…you know who you are! I hope that everyone has enjoyed their summer!
-Ashley Leo ^_^

Alisa (DeYoung) Crowell says:

We can't believe just how fast this summer has flown by!! Corey is wrapping up his summer internship with C&S today. We fly home to Utah for the month of August--it would be so great to meet up with those of you who are still in town!! We've enjoyed being here in Keene, NH. It's a small town, but it has just the right amount of stores you need, PLUS they have some small restaurants with chefs who are tired of the big cities and just want to start their own little place in a small, low-key town. We've eaten at a couple of really good---yummy places. They use their produce from local farms so it's all very fresh. There are also some wonderful farm stands here--I love fresh fruits and veggies! Boston is close enough to go down and have a good time, too.

The lifestyle is ideal for a family--Corey was off work at 5:30 every day and it was so nice not to have homework in the evenings/early mornings. We've been able to do some hiking and camping here among the green--you just have to bring a lot of DEET. These bugs are huge!!

We've had family come, which as also made this summer go so fast! My brother, Kyle, came out for my birthday/Senior Trip (I know, such an awesome brother) and then my sister, Lori, came with her friend--from here we went to Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island. I am definately planning on taking Corey to PEI--not for Anne's Land, but for some great golfing and relaxing--gorgeous scenery.

Yesterday was monumental---our car hit 200,000 miles!!! Yes, we both witnessed the event for sure. Our little white Honda has certainly been good to us. As long as were nice to it, I think it'll last us a couple more years. :)

Life has been so great--this little girl of ours keeps growing and I swear I've popped out only within the last week or so. It's been a little hard to get comfortable at night, but hey--it's all part of it.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your summer days and like I said, I'd love to meet up with anyone who might be in town during August!

Until the next time,

Alisa Crowell

You can see pictures on our blog: http://www.cacrowell.blogspot.com/.

May Newsletter 2008

Thom Beech writes:
Hey Everybody!!! Welcome home Kels!! Corey and I are here in NH enjoying the weatha' galore! It is so beautiful and green. The nights are cool and the days are perfect. There is one spray I will have to get to survive--DEET. There are tons of bugs everywhere! I guess it comes with the foliage--so I can't complain. We can see Mt. Manadnock from here and are planning to hike it within a week or so. Antiquing here is a HUGE deal. I've never seen so many cool old things in my life! There are so many old attics to go around out East for sure. Corey and I'd better start saving our pennies and venture out to an antique store here pretty soon. Anywho, you'll most likely get a newsletter reminder in a couple of weeks already. Corey and I are doing well-- we are planning to move to Keene, NH. For any of you who remember "Jumanji," it was filmed in the quaint and classic of a Northeastern city--Keene. We will be for for June and July--then plan on coming home to Utah for August! That's it!

March Newsletter 2008

Nate & Britni (Hall) Watkins writes:

Hello everyone! Just thought I'd let you all know that by the next newsletter, I should hopefully have some pictures of my new little boy to share! I am only 5 weeks away from my due date and am completely miserable! There is so much for all of you who aren't as far along to look forward to! Hope all is well with everyone!

Misty (Hulet) Burnett says:

Hey everyone! This is Misty (Hulet) Burnett. It has been ages since I have written an update letter. Sorry for that! I actually have some really fun news this time. I am pregnant! I am about 5 months along. We still don't know for sure whether the baby is a boy or a girl. And yes, we are going to find out. The baby is just not cooperating. We have another appointment on Thursday, March 27. Cross your fingers that we will be able to find out. Also, my husband and I are buying a house. We have put an offer in on a beautiful house in Clearfield. It is crazy to think that I am almost a home owner and a parent. I feel like such a grown-up!As for the rest of life, I graduated from Weber State, with a degree in Family Studies in May. I have been working as a Head Start teacher in Ogden since July. I have 15 very sweet 3-5 year olds in my class. They are very fun, but also very crazy at times. I really enjoy it, though. The kids say the funniest things. They keep me laughing. My husband works as a finance guy at Sierra RV. I actually worked there as a receptionist as I put myself through college. Well, I think that is about all my news. I hope to hear from many of you this month!

Misty (Hulet) Burnett

Natalie (Tippets) Mudrow writes:

hey everyone! sorry i haven't written for so long, just been busy with school. i am actually on spring break right now (march 19th), but all i am working on is homework. other than that, i stopped working to just focus on school, i lasted a year and a half, so i figure it's okay not to work right now. shane is doing well, and being as supportive as ever. this summer i will be doing my first level II internship at the u of u inpatient rehabiliation-basically i start out observing and by the end of the 12 weeks, i have my own patient load! i am scared, nervous, and really excited all at the same time. i hope all is well for everyone and hope to hear from you all soon!

-nat mudrow (tippets)

Krista (Combe) Harrison says:

Congratulations Jake and Allie on getting married! The month of March was fun. My dad had a business trip in Orlando which is a short six hour drive, however, flying is even shorter! Parker and I went down to Orlando and played with my mom most of the time. A couple of days we went to visit my dad at the state park he was at. My dad is working for John Deere so he got to play with a bunch of tractors the whole time. When I got down in Orlando, the first night we decided to get up super early in the morning to see the Space Shuttle lift off at the Kennedy Space Center. There aren't too many lift-offs left for the space shuttles, they are retiring the shuttles. I guess they are moving a different direction nowadays. If you get the chance I would suggest trying to see a lift-off at night. Seeing the shuttle take off was super cool! The weather was just nice enough and the pool at the condo was just warm enough that we were able to go swimming a few times. Parker really loves the water, it's great because his bottom side seems to float a little better than his top. My mom took us to Sea World. Even though Parker is really young he still had so much fun. The best part was the dolphin show. I remember when I was younger that I wanted to go into Marine Biology and then become a trainer at Sea World. That dream only came when I was at Sea World though, I don't think I could handle feeding dead fish all day to the animals. Just after I visited with my parents in Orlando my grandparents (Combe) came to visit us in Atlanta. I tell you what all you need to do to get family to visit is have a kid. The parents love the grandkids! Willie had his spring break which was really nice because we got to spend just a little more time with each other. Don't get me wrong he was still busy but he didn't have to stay at school until 8:00 p.m. I have been doing some consignment sale shopping. I tell you what, Utah misses out on these great events. Utah has the D.I. but everywhere else they have consignment sales! I love it, you get great quality stuff for really cheap. Sure it's used but a little wash will fix that. We are getting geared up for Easter this year. We plan to celebrate the bunny stuff on Saturday and then on Sunday we will focus on Jesus Christ. I love the Easter season, the flowers are blooming and we get to think of new life. Spring is a fun season. I hope that you all enjoy it. Have a great Spring!

-Krista

Alisa (DeYoung) Crowell says:

Happy St. Patrick's Day and Easter in the same month!! Happy Spring! Corey and I decided last minute to fly to Ft. Lauderdale, FL to hang out on the beach for a few days. We probably should have checked the weather before we booked our flights--it's a little cloudy, but it sure is a lot warmer than Boston! It's nice to get away for a little while. Krista, I can't believe how BIG Parker is already! I love Sea World!!! Good luck Nat with school--it's the last part of the race! Congrats to all of you expecting little ones soon! That's exciting! Life is good--we're just trying to finalize some internship possibilities.

For any of you in Utah looking to support the arts in Ogden--Peter Pan will be playing at BHS in April! I was sent an email for a billboard advertisement and it occurred to me that Peter Pan looked really familiar--probably because it was my brother Kyle! :) We totally wish we could be there--so if you do go, maybe Corey and I could live vicariously through you!

-Alisa

February Newsletter 2008

Krista (Combe) Harrison says:
I haven't written for a little bit, but congratulations to all those who are engaged, having babies, and enjoying life! Willie and I had our anniversary in January. We took our little boy, Parker, to the Georgia Aquarium during that time. We are looking forward to the next few months. Being so far away from home we enjoy the times we get to see family. My Grandma Combe is coming to visit in March and then we get to go to Disneyland in May just after my little sister gets married. Willie is spending a lot of time at school and work, which gives me a lot of time to play with Parker. Parker has been sitting up on his own and he is starting to learn to crawl. We started him on solid foods, which is fun. We wish he could stay little, but we really like to see him grow and develop. I know I didn't have much to say this time but I hope that you all are doing great! -krista

Mark and Natalie (Pugmire) Hincks say:
We're doing well, just counting down the days until the snow is gone and we have our little girl. We are past the half-way mark now! Our due date is June 22nd. We are thinking of naming her Grace or Gracie. Mark is in Hawaii right now for his job...I wish I were that lucky. Fortunately, it's just a short trip. Unfortunately, he's going to be in Florida for the month of May and part of June selling security systems, while I stay behind to finish up my teaching and pregnancy here. Life is good, though. I can't really complain. I've felt excellent throughout my pregnancy so far. Well, hope y'all are doing well. -Natalie Hincks

Nate and Britni (Hall) Watkins write:
Nate and I have been busy...as I'm sure you all have. I've been trying to keep up full time work being 31 weeks pregnant...which is challenging when you are on your feet for 12 hours at a time! Lots of back pain comes along with that. Nate is trying to get through the last few months of school to graduation-he doesn't have much motivation to study since he's already been accepted into dental school...but is doing well regardless. To top it all off, we have been moving out of our duplex in with Nate's parents for the next 6 months to save some money for moving expenses, baby, and buying a new place when we get to Ohio. So I've been doing all the packing of boxes and such since I cannot lift much myself! We are planning on moving out to Ohio at the end of August-first of September. By that time our little boy will be over 4 months old! Anyhow, things are going well, just living life!

Alisa (DeYoung) Crowell says:
It's so great to hear from you all! Corey and I are so wishing for the Spring to be here! Fellow Bostonians tell us to expect Winter until April--sometimes even into May!!! Walking across the bridge is a bit brutal sometimes. :) Ohh man, I have no idea what I'm going to do! I love summer! We miss how the snow sticks to the ground--it sort of melts with all the rain here. I will say that when we get a fresh snowstorm it is absolutely breathtaking! The trees are incredible. We ate at a fabulous restaurant called Olive's in Charlestown--the vanilla souffle was a HIT! The BEST I've ever had! They drop two scoops of icecream right in the middle--it is divine. If you're ever in town, be sure to make a reservation at Olive's. Other than that, we continue learnin' the ropes around heah'.
-Alisa
